- : I still think the PPC is more widely used and still the best choice for AT.
- : But then again we will probably never now...
-
- The most used risc are intel risc, the most used cisc is intel cisc.
- But soon MIPS will have ALOT of sales via nintendo... Mips cpu are
- used is supoesly alot of embended system, and stuff like Sony playsation
- (nintendo ultra 64), all their system , also other unix box use mips
- chips.
-
- MIPS can provide very good price for lowend CPU, good price for mid
- range. A R5000 (400mflop) is <300$ , to compare a 040 40mhz give 10mflop.
- And from price I saw the 40mhz 040 is more expansive!

-
- : Yes, Parallel processing will be the future, but this can be done also with a
- : RISC chip like the PPC right ??
-
- Yes, R5000, R10000 are 'designed' for this.
-

-
- : Will have ?? Isn't it released already ?
-
- All the doc/ spec yes... other chip manufacturer like AMD already have
- version of it. intel will have P5 and P6 with this Multimedia extension.
-
- : FB> As always, IBM will give us tomorrow the technology that nearly

-
- : IBM ? It is a Motorola chip in a alliance with IBM and Apple if I'm correct.
-
- Yes, also the IBM that produce x86 chip.... (For cyrix)
-
- : Allthough the sound stuff, wasn't good enough for me... 8 16bit channels

- : me being very a-techinical ;) ).
-
- I would actually be super happy with 2 16bit channel! :)
-
- : I still don't completely get it... It is very difficult just to Imagine that
- : the old/slow AGA chipset can be the most awesome Custom-chipset on the market
- : for the next decade at least by simply inserting an extension into you're
- : Amiga.
-
- Look at opalvision, dctv.... cool extensions to OCS.... no?
